FAQS

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I apply to Mighty Oak Academy?

When the enrollment window opens, visit our apply now page to complete the online application.  A member of staff from Mighty Oak will reach out by phone to get the admissions process started.

What is the admissions process like?

We have a two interview process for all new students.  Interviews are intentionally scheduled on different days to allow staff, student and family time to process information.  The interviews will cover academic skills as well as social emotional skills and developmental milestones.  A student cannot “fail” an interview.  These are simply meant to understand the student more for the purposes of classroom fit and resources available at MOA. Once both interviews are complete staff will meet to make an admissions decision and the parent will be notified of the decision by phone.  .

Can I live anywhere and attend Mighty Oak Academy?

No, we have enrollment boundaries.  All students must live west of 9th street and north of Algonquin parkway to be eligible for admission.  Proof of address is required during the interview process.

How much is tuition?

We never want cost to be a barrier for any student to attend Mighty Oak Academy.  While we do charge a nominal monthly amount of $75 per student per month, we are willing to work with any family to either come up with a plan, or work on an achievable lower monthly tuition amount.  Cost should never deter a family from applying.

What if I don’t have access to my own transportation, does Mighty Oak provide a bus?

We do not provide any transportation to and from school, however we have a very committed school family and many families carpool together to school.  If you have transportation challenges, don’t let that stop you from applying, we can work together as a community to figure out transportation.

My student has an IEP can we still apply?

Mighty Oak Academy has limited ability to meet IEP requirements.  We do not have special education staff and while we do have small class sizes, small class sizes aren’t always the answer for learning challenges.  We review each application independently to determine if we have the resources to be able to support each student.

I have multiple students in different grades that I want to apply, how do I do that?

You will need to fill out a separate application online for each student you want to apply.  When we call to schedule the interviews, we will schedule them as much together as we can, but for multiple students it will likely mean you will come back for interviews more than twice to get through each student.

Will I need to reapply each year my student is at Mighty Oak?

No, only students that are new to Mighty Oak will need to submit an application through the website. Current students will be given the opportunity to complete an intent to return form prior to the end of the school year.
